Adrenaline can affect the human body in amazing ways, and one way to get it going is after a car accident. It’s quite possible that after an accident, you can feel as though you’re completely fine and unhurt – no blood, no injury. However, many accident victims wake up the next morning feeling as though they’ve been hit by a truck (well, maybe because they have!) It can take time for the adrenaline to fade, and meanwhile your body is reeling from the effects of the trauma of the accident.

I created this video to talk about my experience working with accident victims who don’t visit the doctor or make all the doctor-recommended follow up visits. It’s not only for your health to see a doctor right away and follow their orders. The insurance companies are going to be watching the behavior of any person who files a claim against them, and can and will try to use your medical records against you. You don’t want to be in this situation, especially if your injuries turn out to be more serious or severe than  you initially felt.

From Nolo’s article, “Get Necessary Medical Care After Your Accident“:

There are two main reasons why it is important that you follow through with your treatment. The obvious reason is that your doctor is in the best position to determine how seriously you are injured, and to prescribe the best treatment for you — to help you recover more quickly, and to make you as comfortable as possible while you are recovering. The second reason: your doctor’s records of your visits are the best way to document and verify the nature and extent of your injuries, as well as the course and duration of your treatment. This verification is essential if you later make a car accident injury claim.
