It’s so easy to take health for granted. And it’s amazing how swiftly that can change. One split second in a car crash can make easy tasks like mowing the lawn or vacuuming the stairs grueling, dangerous, or downright impossible for days, months, maybe even the rest of your life. Does this mean if someone hits you in a collision, you have no choice but to try to shift these chores to other family members, kind neighbors, or just deal with the effects of a not doing them at all? Of course not. A little known piece of personal injury claims against an at-fault party’s insurance company allows for what’s called “substitute domestic services” and I created this handy video to tell you all about it.
What I hope this accomplishes is to reassure accident victims that they can think creatively about what’s available to help them recover from the effects of someone else’s negligence. A car accident, or any kind of vehicle accident, can have repercussions that go far beyond the obvious damages to the car or bodies involved. Such an accident can have effects that last far longer than the time it takes a bruise to fade or a car to get out of the shop. Of course, it’s not the consumer’s job to know the ins and outs of every insurance policy out there and how to negotiate with the insurance companies in order to get a full and fair settlement. That’s why personal injury lawyers make it their job to know this information, and work hard for their clients to find the peace of mind that comes from a correctly settled claim.
