Encompassing Thanksgiving through New Year’s, MADD’s Tie One On For Safety campaign is in full swing. This prompted me to search for some of the best anti-drunk driving ads (also known as PSAs) that bring awareness to people about how deadly it is to drink and drive. It seems like people should know better, but the statistics don’t lie – the holiday season holds the highest chance to be hit by a drunk driver. Until the number of people getting hit by drunk drivers turns to zero, we will still have a need to remind folks to avoid making potentially the worst decision of their lives with these PSAs.

These ads all made me tear up. The stronger the pull on your heart strings, the more hope there is that the next time you’re in a situation where you could choose to drive after drinking or not, you opt to wait. Encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same.

Someone Waits For You At Home – DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

There’s something particularly powerful about sadness that turns to joy. Remember this every time you can make the wise choice.

THINK! Don’t Drink

The UK celebrated their 50-year anniversary for their THINK! Don’t Drink ad campaign to bring awareness to drunk driving. They brought the death toll down from 1,640 to 230 and that is still too many. However, that’s an impressive reduction, don’t you think? In the US, 300 more people died because of drunk drivers in 2016 compared to the year before.

Bellingham High School – Drunk Driving Awareness

Last but certainly not least is this PSA made from students at our own Bellingham High School. It’s awful to think that it could represent someone you know.

Please do not drink and drive. Chances are you’ll have the opportunity this month as we celebrate the holidays, but remember you have options. If you are hit by a drunk driver, call Bill Coats Law immediately. We are here to  help you with the insurance claims process so you have the best chance at a full financial recovery.
